It's refreshing and is lots of fun to play at water parks in summer. There are many great water parks in Japan. Most of Japan's outdoor swimming pools open in early July and close in early September. They can be crowded during school summer holidays, from late July to August. Here is a list of popular water parks in Japan:

Spa Resort Hawaiians Water Park
Location: 50 Warabidaira Joubanfujiwaramachi Iwaki-city, Fukushima
Access: Takes 15 minutes by shuttle bus from JR Joban Line Yumoto Station

Admission: 3,150 yen (middle school students - ), 2,000 yen (elementary students), 1,400 yen (age 3 -)
Hours: 9:30a.m to 7p.m. on weekdays; 9a.m. to 10:30p.m. on weekend / 9a.m to 10:30 on weekdays; 8a.m. to 10:30p.m. on weekend (7/18 - 8/31)
Note: The large all weather dome is always kept around 28 degrees. Hula dance and Polynesian shows are performed in the stage.

Tokyo Summerland
Location: Akiruno-city, Tokyo
Access: JR/Keio Line Hachioji Station JR Akikawa Station

Admission: 2,000 yen or 3,500 yen (7/1-9/30) for adults, 1,000 yen or 2,500 yen (7/1-9/30) for children ages 7 to 12, and 1,000 yen or 1,800 yen (7/1-9/30) for children ages 2 to 6 and seniors ages 61 and over.
Open: The outdoor pool called the Adventure Lagoon is open between July 1 and September 30 in 2009. The indoor pool called Adventure Dome is open throughout the year. Hours vary by season. *See the park schedule.

Yomiuri Land: Water Amusement Island
Location: 4015-1 Yanokuchi Inagi-city, Tokyo

*Note: Yomiuri Land has a policy regarding tattoos, and people with tattoos or tattoo stickers aren't allowed in the water park.

Tobu Zoo Super Pool
Location: Tozu Dobutsu Koen (Tobu Zoo)

Toshima-en Water Park
Location: Toshimaen Amusement Park
3-25-1 Kouyama Nerima-ku, Tokyo
Access: Seibu Ikebukuro Line / Seibu Shunjuku Line / Toei Subway Oedo Line Toshima-en Station
Admission to the park and the pools: 3,800 yen for adults and children over middle school ages, 2,800yen for children whose height over 110cm, and 1,500 yen for children over age 2.
Open: July 4, 5, 11, and 12 and July 18-24, 2009 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.)
July 25 - Aug. 31, 2009 (9 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
Sep. 5 and 6, 2009 (10a.m. - 5 p.m.)
Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nagashima Spaland Jumbo Pool
Location: Nagashima Resort
Nagashima-cho Urayasu Kuwana-city, Mie
Access: By bus from JR Kuwana/Nagoya to Nagashima onsen

Admission: 3,000yen for adults, 2,300yen for elementary and middle school students, and 1,300yen for children over 2. Passport tickets are available.
Open: July 4 to Sep. 23, 2009.

Uminonaka Kaihin Koen Sunshine Pool
Location: Saitozaki Higashi-ku Fukuoka-city, Fukuoka
Access: JR Umino nakamichi Station

Admission: 1,650yen (age 15- ), 850 yen (elementary school students - ), 150 yen (age 3-5)
Open: July 11, 12 and July 18 - Aug. 31, 2009 (9a.m.-6p.m.)

Hokkaido Rusutsu Resort Super Jumbo Pool
Location: Rusutsu Resort Amusement Park

Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m
Note: The Super Jumbo Pool includes 6 different types of pool. The amusement park with many attractions is open between April 25 and Oct. 25 in 2009.

Sendai Highland Leisure Pool
Location: 12 Nikkawa-aza-Hayasaka Aoba-ku Sendai-city, Miyagi
