Visiting onsen (hot springs) is one of the most popular leisure in Japan. There are a lot of onsen all over Japan. So, you may wonder which onsen to go. Here is a list of great onsen in Japan.

1. Atami Onsen, Shizuoka

Atami is a famous spa resort in Kanto region. There are lots of inns and attractions in Atami.

2. Dogo Onsen, Ehime

It's known as the oldest hot spring in Japan. Dogo Onsen main building is the main attraction here.

3. Echigo Yuzawa Onsen, Niigata

Echigo Yuzawa is a popular snow and hot spring resort in Niigata. Since it's easy to access to Echigo Yuzawa from Tokyo, millions of people visit here every year.

4. Gero Onsen, Gifu

Gero Onsen is known as one of the best three hot springs in Japan. It's located in the valley along Hida River.

5. Hakone Onsen, Kanagawa

Hakone is a pupular sightseeing spot in Japan with various attractions. Lots of onsen are available here.

6. Kinugawa Onsen, Tochigi

It's a large onsen town along Kinugawa River.

7. Kusatsu Onsen, Gunma

Kusatsu Onsen is one of the largest hot spring resorts in Japan. Mt. Shirane volcano is a popular sightseeing spot neat Kusatsu Onsen.

8. Noboritetsu Onsen, Hokkaido

It's the most popular spa resort in Hokkaido. More than 3 million people visit Noboribetsu Onsen every year.

9. Shirahama Onsen, Wakayama

Shirahama is famous for its beautiful beaches and great hot springs.

10. Yufuin Onsen, Oita

It's one of the best onsen in Kyushu. The view of Yufuin-dake mountain is wonderful.
