Access to Kusatsu Onsen:
It takes about 2 and half hours from Tokyo Ueno Station to JR Agatsuma line Naganohara Kusatsu-guchi Station by a JR limited express train bound for Manza. It takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Takasaki Station to JR Naganohara Kusatsu-gushi Station by a JR limited train. It take about 25 minutes by bus from Kusatsu-guchi Station to Kusatsu Onsen Stop.

The main feature of Kusatsu Onsen is one of the sources of hot spring water located in the center of the town, which is called Yubatake. It's nice to take a walk around the Yubatake, watching the onsen water. There is an active volcano called Shirane-san near Kusatsu Onsen. A popular sightseeing spot here is a crater lake called Yugama. The water in the lake is beatiful emerald green.
