Tour of the Imperial Palace Inner Grounds

The large area which includes the Imperial Palace inner grounds, the Imperial Palace East Gardens (koukyo higashi gyoen), and the outer gardens (koukyo gaien) is genarally called koukyo (the Imperial Palace).
Location: Chiyoda Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo

The inner palace grounds are closed to the public except January 2 and the Emperor's birthday on December 23. There are guided walking tours of the inner palace grounds. To join the tour, visitors need to apply for approval from the Imperial Household Agency in advance.
