Kamakura is located about 30 miles southwest of Tokyo. It was Japan's capital for more than 100 years beginning in 1192 when the shogun Minamoto Yoritomo established Bakufu Samurai government. The atmosphere of old Japan still remains in Kamakura and attracts many tourists to the area.
