You might be wondering when is the best time to sakura in Japan. Sakura flowering dates change every year. Usually, sakura begin blooming in January in Okinawa, and they are in full bloom in late March to April in Honshu region. In Hokkaido, sakura usually reach their peak in late May. Japan Meteorological Agency announces sakura flowering forecast in early March. Please refer to average sakura flowering dates and sakura flowering date archives when you plan your trip to Japan. The blooming period of sakura is short. I recommend you to make your trip flexible.
