Nagasaki is an interesting destination for many travelers because it's known as Japan's most exotic city. When Japan was in the period of isolation from 17th century to 19th century, restricted trades with China and the Netherlands were only conducted in the port of Nagasaki. For the reason, Nagasaki has been largely influenced by foreign cultures.

It's also known as the second city in Japan to be attacked by an atomic bomb in 1945. The Nagasaki Peace Ceremony is held on August 9th every year at the Nagasaki Peace Park.

Nagasaki prefecture is located on the northwestern coast of Kyushu. To get to Nagasaki-city from Tokyo, it takes five hours by bullet train from Tokyo to Hakata Station and takes about two hours from Hakata to Nagasaki Station by rapid express train. Or, it takes about two hours to fly to Nagasaki Airport from Tokyo Haneda Airport and takes about one hour by bus to the center of the city from the airport.
