Ajisai (hydrangea) are loved by Japanese people as a symbol of rainy season. They bloom from May to July in different regions and light up this gloomy season.

Relaxing at Onsen Theme Parks

Japanese onsen (hot springs) theme parks offer a number of interesting baths and playful attractions. They are fun places for families to spend a day. You can also find onsen complexes which provide more relaxing atomosphere. They are basically day-use-facilities, but overnight accommodations are occasionally available.

Going to Aquariums

There are over one hundred of aquariums in Japan. You can stay cool and relaxed in aquariums during the hot and humid rainy season. Enjoy watching colorful fish swim around in large tanks.

Traveling to Hokkaido

Although some parts of Hokkaido might experience consecutive cloudy and chilly days which resemble the rainy season, the region officially does not have a rainy season. As its weather tends to be nicer than other regions of Japan, visiting Hokkaido is a good idea.

Dining at Food Theme Parks

Japan offers a variety of food choices. Food theme parks make it possible to taste many different kinds of the theme food in one place. It's a good choice for rainy days.

Visiting Museums

You can make the most of a rainy day by visiting museums in Japan.
