Here's How:

  1. If you are involved in a crime or an accident, call the police at 110. (Toll-free)
  2. If you need an ambulance or rescue service, call 119. (Toll-free)
  3. For fire, call 119. (Toll-free)
  4. To call the Japan Coast Guard, dial 118. (Toll-free)
  5. If you need to go to a hospital, the AMDA International Medical Information Center provides medical information on the phone in multiple languages. Also, Tokyo Metropolitan Health and Medical Information Center provides medical facility information in multiple languages.
  6. If you lose your belongings or lose your way, go to a koban (small police station) near you.
  7. If you encounter an earthquake, try to get under a table or counter or something sturdy. Wait until the earthquake stops. Try not to panic. If you are in a coastal area, evacuate to high ground immediately.
  8. When a severe disaster occurs, message services are offered by NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation) and mobile phone service providers. If you want to leave a message for someone or want to receive a message from someone, try using the services.
