- If you are involved in a crime or an accident, call the police at 110. (Toll-free)
- If you need an ambulance or rescue service, call 119. (Toll-free)
- For fire, call 119. (Toll-free)
- To call the Japan Coast Guard, dial 118. (Toll-free)
- If you need to go to a hospital, the AMDA International Medical Information Center provides medical information on the phone in multiple languages. Call 03-5285-8088 or 06-4395-0555. Also, Tokyo Metropolitan Health and Medical Information Center provides medical facility information in English, Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Spanish. Call 03-5285-8181 between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily.
- If you lose your belongins or lose your way, go to a police kiosk (called koban) near you. Each police kiosk has a metallic pentagon symbol on the front of the building.
- If you encounter an earthquake, try to get under a table or counter or something sturdy. Wait until the earthquake stops. Try not to panic.
- For free, anonymous phone counseling, call the Tokyo English Life Line at 03-5774-0992. For face-to-face counseling, call TELL Community Counseling Service at 03-3498-0231.
