From the Forum: Three Weeks in Japan

A traveler to Japan is planning a trip in July and writes, "My brother and I are finally in a position to visit Japan (something we've wanted to do for ages) and we plan to spend 3 weeks there (late July)! We're planning on spending most of our time in Tokyo, but we'd like to spend a few days in Kyoto, and maybe more time down there to visit Osaka as well... are there particular areas/sights we should definitely aim for? It seems the choice of things to do incredibly vast..."
