Appreciating the mid-autumn full moon, which is referred to as "Jugoya" or "Chushu-no-meigetsu", is an important tradition in Japan and is called tsukimi. As it originated from the Chinese Moon Festival, tsukimi takes place on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar, and it falls on September 22 in 2010.
