Autumn Sumo Tournament Begins in Tokyo

If you are in Tokyo in September, you might want to consider going to see sumo in Ryogoku. The 2009 Autumn Grand Sumo tournament is held from September 13 to 27 at Ryogoku Kokugikan. Tickets are on sale now. Even though you can't buy tickets in advance, same-day tickets are usually available at the Kokugikan box office.Read More:

Looks like I’m going to be arriving in Japan just after this is over : (
Living here for 3 years, I avoided this. I attended one day during the May ‘09 tournament…now I have ducats for the fall tourney. It is a “must-see” if you come here.
Part PT Barnum, Part religious, Part athletic…but all interesting. Share a day with Japanese and gaijin tourists…well worth your time, expense and effort!
