Shichi-go-san

Monday October 27, 2008
Shichigosan Picture You might see many small children dressed in kimono at Japanese shrines in November. November 15 is called shichi-go-san which is a traditional Japanese festival for children of seven, five, and three years old. Families with children of the ages visit shrines to pray for their healthy growth. Shichi-go-san is an important family event, and people dress up nicely and take lots of pictures.

I love Shichi-Go-San Shizuko - actually I love all the Japanese festivals. I think someone visiting Tokyo or Japan should definitely try and take in a festival if there is one happening during their stay!
