Cleaning of the Great Buddha

Many people in Japan are preparing for obon this week. Cleaning houses is one thing needed to be done. The Great Buddha at Nara Todaiji Temple was cleaned by Buddhist monks on August 7th. Watching this annual event makes us realize how big the statue is. The height is about 50 feet, and the size of the face is about 17 feet.
