Golden Week Traveling

"We are scheduled to arrive in Tokyo at the beginning of Golden Week. While we are excited to be a part of the festivities, we also wonder what we should expect. Fortunately, we are with a small tour group and will have a local tour leader available to us. There will be some free time, and this is when we would like to know where to spend it." Suggestions?
